Ingredients
- 1.5 lb/700g beef steak cut into strips
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 TBSP soy sauce
- 1 tsp chili sauce
- 2 TBSP corn starch, plus more to dust before cooking
- 1 beaten egg white
- 1 sweet bell pepper, cut into 2″ pieces
- 1 onion, cut into large dice
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup water
- 4 TBSP soy sauce
- 1/2 cup hoisin sauce
- 6 TBSP oyster sauce
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 5 TBSP sriracha
- 4 TBSP ketchup
- 2 TBSP vinegar
- sliced hot chili pepper
- slurry of 1 TBSP cornstarch/1 TBSP cold water
Preparation
- Mix baking soda, pepper, soy sauce, corn starch, chili sauce and egg white. Pour over the beef. Allow to marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile cut up the pepper, onion & garlic, set aside.
- Mix ingredients for sauce: water, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, sugar sriracha, and ketchup. Set aside.
- Dust marinated meat in cornstarch.
- Fry the beef 3-4 minutes, until golden. Remove beef and set aside.
- In same pan sauté vegetables in oil for 2 minutes. Stir in the chili peppers.
- Add the beef back into the pan and stir in the sauce.

- Add vinegar, then the slurry (stirring constantly until slurry is blended).
- Serve with rice & enjoy!!
